Working title
egg tempera paintings
This series began during a museum blitz through Madrid, Amsterdam, Florence, and Paris in spring 2025. Four masterworks were recast through prompting, editing, and drawing. Fast digital process gave way to the glacial pace of egg tempera, creating a clash between the speed of image-making and the demands of the medium.
Each painting takes a historical motif and reroutes it through 1970s suburban America: a Dutch still life becomes a spread of processed food, a mythological race stumbles into shag carpeting, a Roman wine god mutates into a man with a glass of bourbon, and a composed young woman falls into her reflection in a digital pond.
The works are mental black boxes - staged collisions of time and process.
